Black Springbrook Coat

75,000

This one-of-a-kind coat is a handmade object of textile art and сraft, combining digital collage, analog photography, fabric bleaching, painstaking machine stitching and hand-embroidery. The design is centered on the abstract black and white ‘face’, composed with scanned plants collected from the Australian rainforest. The pattern is machine quilted around the outline of the leaves and complemented with abstract fiery red bleached stamps made with leaves of agricultural plants typical to the Far East: zucchini, eggplant, pumpkin, horseradish, and castor-oil plant. All leaves are machine-quilted along the outline and the veins, which gives the surface extra volume and texture. Black and white digital print and orange-brown bleached prints are combined with fragments of embroidery in traditional Japanese sashiko style, made with mouliné threads of various colors. Buttoned, it’s wide and voluminous, suitable for both cool and frosty weather, because you can wear it with many layers of warm clothes and even a lightweight down jacket under it!
