On my first walk in the Queensland’s rainforest, I was immediately mesmerized by a very cute small ferns with the fractal-like structure. As I found out later, the names of these ferns are Gleichenia dicarpa and Gleichenia truncata, they are unique cuties found in eastern Australia, New Caledonia and New Zealand! I fell in love with them at first sight and decided to not only use them as parts of the patterns in my cyanotypes, but to make some separate pieces to highlight the beauty of their natural and chaotic abstract patterns.
I have to admit, I’m not only a huge fan of ferns, but the diversity of Australian ferns inspired me for my first ever cyanotype print series called ‘Australian flora’, which I’ve made in 2015 (yes, my visits to Australia are always inspired beyond limits by thriving green plants of all kinds, and they always very productive).
