Shades of Blue
The collection is inspired by the multitude of shades of blue of the sky and the sea. It features original cyanotype prints, patchwork, hand-bleaching with plants, appliqués, stamps, embroidery and quilting. Pieces of fabrics were brought in from various trips to Seoul, Tokyo and Harbin. The images and silhouettes were inspired by the traditional costumes of the indigenous people of the Far East and East Asia.
There are warm bonnets, protecting from the wind in a bad weather, upcycled from old scarves. Double-sided bags were assembled out of vintage cotton scraps and painstakingly quilted in traditional Asian patterns. Quilted “boro” jackets, unique pants with prints and many more. The background for the photoshoot of the collection is made out of indigo-dyed and hand-bleached prints.
