I’m back to Vladivostok and continue working on my cyanotype project, because the fall is coming rapidly. In other words, I will have no chance to make new experiments with living plants in more than 7 months of long Russian winter 🙂 However, I still have plenty of plants and plenty of sun to work with! For instance, in the new prints of various clothing items I use plants of Vladivostok and chemicals for cyanotype. Cyanotype – is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print, discovered by the English scientist sir John Herschel in 1842. So, for the prints, I coat fabrics with the sensitizer solution and after drying is complete it is ready for UV exposure. After that, I create a floral pattern, expose, wash and get the final result.
